Williamstown, VT, tentatively passes vacant property registration ordinance

Williamstown, VT: The Select Board approved a vacant property registration ordinance.

The ordinance would require properties vacant for at least 60 days to register, and levy fees for if property upkeep to Code is not adhered to. The fee would be $100 per violation, per day.

The Town’s ordinance is set to take effect in August 2021, unless a petition of voters is received, wherein a special election could need to be had to determine if the ordinance can still go into effect.
