Federal Housing Administration extends eviction moratorium into 2021 for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac properties
Nation: Another moratorium expansion has been announced for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac properties.
The extension applies only to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac properties, and grants an additional month of time to single-family mortgages.
The new moratorium will last until Jan. 31, 2021, with possibility for expansion or further actions continuing into 2021, to prevent evictions for homes they back for loans where the property is already in foreclosure; the previous expansion was set to expire Dec. 31, 2020.
Payment requirements on loans are still planned to resume at some point in 2021, so the possibility of foreclosure itself for a home could still occur once the current moratorium concludes.
