Property registration approved for abandoned foreclosures in Beavercreek

Beavercreek, OH: City Council has agreed to initiate a vacant property registration ordinance to identify and regulate potential blight to neighborhoods, though exact details for all sections of the ordinance have not yet been set.

The agreed-upon parameters currently require owners of abandoned property in foreclosure to register the property within 10 days of it becoming vacant; with registration to be renewed annually.

All such properties must also be secured from unauthorized access and maintained within city code.

The fee for registration has not been set, but $150 for residential and $250 for commercial properties have been suggested at meetings leading up to the vote to instigate the registry. Unpaid fees will result in a lien against the property.
