Tinley Park, IL, approves property registration ordinance for defaulted mortgages

Tinley Park, IL: The Village has approved a property registration ordinance for defaulted mortgages, to help handle situations brought on by foreclosures.

Per the meeting agenda, a semi-annual registration will be required by the owner for each of their defaulted mortgage properties, along with a registration fee of $300 for each.

Properties must be maintained to the Village’s property maintenance standards, which utilizes the International Code Council’s regulations, during the timeframe in which the property appears on the registry.

The full details, forms, and rollout of the ordinance are still being put together and discussed, with updates to occur in the coming months, and will likely go into full effect before fall 2019.
