Amendments to Rockdale County, GA, vacant property registration ordinance are in effect

Rockdale County, GA: The amendments for the vacant property registration ordinance are in effect, and the first 90 days of leeway for current vacant properties not already registered has passed.

The amendment requires owners of properties that become vacant, as defined by the ordinance, to register with the Department of Planning and Development by 90 days after the vacancy occurring, and pay a $60 fee for initial registration and $100 for renewal registrations; registration is good for 12 months from time of registration, for a given owner registering a given property.

Registration must include the names of the owners with their current contact information; current contact information for any agent’s in charge of the property, if the owners are not directly; and any change to any information must be submitted within 30 days of the change.

Owners are required to maintain the property to Rockdale County Code, and failure to register, maintain current and accurate information, maintain the property to Code, or renew registration, can result in penalties and fees.
