First round of Hazleton property inspections underway, more to follow
Hazleton, PA: The first phase of anti-blight inspections began this week, with expansion of the violation inspections to follow.
The evaluations have encompassed litter, to abandoned vehicles, to structural issues. Initial results will carry more leniency in issuing code violations, to help property owners adjust to the beautification efforts and bring more people around to preemptive community improvement.
Notification will continue to be sent out to residents in the days before such city sweeps, in order to help avoid a great deal of violations being levied and to encourage property owners to improve
upon vacant or declining property before code violation enforcement needs become an issue.
Further vacant property registration and blight-prevention measures are under discussion, as the city continues to improve safety and rejuvenate neighborhoods on the decline.
