Code violations increase as summer sets in across Brentwood
Brentwood, PA: Summer weather brings all the fun of outdoors events, but also seems to bring the code violations for both occupied and vacant structures.
“Brentwood code enforcement officers issued 672 notices of code or property maintenance violations or first-time notices to residents since January [until August]. Of that, 116 were in June,” according to an article in the “Neighborhoods” section of “TribLive.”
When vacant properties are found in violation of yard maintenance standards, the city will send a notice, but when the response is not forthcoming, the city will move ahead with its own yard servicing and charge the bill to those listed for the vacant property.
Fines of $300 to $500 are regular when it comes to noncompliance concerning violation notices. Violations occur often in both the front and back yards, and non-encroachment of overgrowth onto neighboring property or streets or sidewalks is enforced.
