Charges filed against three California home loan companies for exploiting Hispanic homeowners

Washington D.C.: Charges of violating the Fair Housing Act have been filed by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) involving The Home Loan Auditors, LLC; Century Law Center, LLC; and SOE Assistance Center, Inc.

The charges allege illegal or unfair loan assistance or auditing targeting Hispanic homeowners.

The three home loan modification companies named and “their agents lured struggling Hispanic homeowners into paying thousands of dollars for home loan audits that the homeowners never received and modification services that had little, if any, value,” according to the press release from HUD.

Those practices combined with limited English proficiency on the part of the homeowners led to the homeowners in question eventually losing their homes in foreclosure.
