Jackson Township, NJ, updates fee schedule for vacant property registration ordinance

Jackson Township, NJ: The Township has updated the vacant property registration ordinance with a registration fee schedule.

The ordinance update requires all vacant properties to be registered annually, with current contact information for owners and representatives, and payment of registration fees.

A vacant property is any residential or commercial property where no legal occupancy is occurring or all lawful construction operations have ceased for at least 3 months.

Registration is due within 3 days of vacancy, or within 30 days of assuming ownership, with registration renewal due by Jan. 31 each subsequent year of vacancy.

Initial registration is now $500 and each subsequent year for registration is now a $1000 fee.

Failure to adhere to any part of the ordinance can result in fines for the given violation, with each day constituting a new offense for a violation.
